My client is a leading manufacturer of large scale turbo generators. They now require a Customer Support Manager to support their Aftermarket division with technical expertise and solutions guidance covering all mechanical issues related to their generators.
The successful candidate will be experienced in the mechanical engineering of electrical generators and be used to consulting directly with clients on their sites.
Main Responsibilities include:
*Supporting the global Aftermarket business by resolving all mechanical issues related to large generator designs (cooling systems, rotor dynamics, bearings, vibration studies, housing design, machine losses/efficiency and hydraulic circuits, etc).
*Supporting and accompanying Sales and Project Managers during the pre-contract award stage to promote Aftermarket technical credibility and competence.
*Acting as lead engineer/technical expert for large Aftermarket generator projects throughout the full product life cycle.
*To support Aftermarket with Innovative, fully engineered and creative solutions to customer problems.
Person Specification:
*Engineering degree or extensive relevant experience.
*Expert in mechanical engineering of electrical generators.
*Six Sigma / Lean trained.
*Commercially astute.
*Understanding of basic generator electrical operation & connection (islanded operation, grid connected, real & reactive power flows, etc).
*Basic knowledge of gas & steam turbine operation and maintenance.
*Basic knowledge of power transformer operation and construction.
*I.T. literate and basic knowledge of design packages/methodologies.
